Bucktown Could Get New Yoga Studio

A potential new yoga space on Milwaukee Ave. is contingent upon the city's approval of a zoning amendment.

Bucktown may be getting a new yoga studio.

An application was filed on Oct. 31 with the city's Zoning and Planning Bureau to change the zoning designation of the building at 1845 N. Milwaukee Ave. from "M1-2 Limited Manufacturing/Business Park District" to "B3-2 Community Shopping District" to make way for the studio, according to a public notice posted at the address.

According to attorney Sara K. Barnes of the Law Office of Sam Banks, who represents the prospective yoga studio's owner, the projected window for its opening would be sometime in the spring or summer of 2013. Assuming the zoning amendment comes through, of course.

"Everything is contingent on the zoning," Barnes said.

She said a public hearing on the zoning change is scheduled for Nov. 29 and that an official resolution either granting or denying the change would come about 45 days after that.
