Walgreens opened a new flagship store in Bucktown last week in a building originally occupied by Noel State Bank.

Located at 1601 N. Milwaukee Ave., on the northwest corner of North, Damen and Milwaukee avenues, the store has been the talk of the town.

The company worked with the Commission on Chicago Landmarks over the past two years to restore the building, including its decorative terra cotta exterior and ornate plaster ceiling. The 24-hour store includes features above and beyond those offered at a typical neighborhood Walgreens location, including a "vitamin vault" that is housed in the bank's original safe, a café, a juice bar and a sushi bar.
