Chicago Police Plan Roadside Safety Check for Wicker Park, Bucktown

Chicago Police will be conducting a roadside safety check in the Wicker Park and Bucktown area, July 26-27.


The Chicago Police Department wants to nip impaired and distracted driving in the bud but conducting a Roadside Safety Check in the Shakespeare (14th) District at North Avenue and Albany Avenue, from 7 a.m. Friday to 3 a.m. on Saturday, July 26-27.

If you're tooling around the Wicker Park and Bucktown neighborhoods, you may want to rethink that extra cocktail or texting while driving in the area of North Avenue and Albany.

During roadside safety checks, police officers slow down traffic, stop cars at regular intervals and watch for drivers who show signs of alcohol impairment and other violations as noted below.

“This program is conducted year round to ensure drivers are operating their vehicles safely,” said Superintendent, Garry F. McCarthy.  “This is part of an ongoing strategy to keep the city streets safe for Chicago’s residents and commuters.”
