Scar-Faced Ruse Burglar and Accomplice Moving Through North Side

Chicago Police Area North detectives say six incidents occurred in one week on North Side.

Chicago Police are warning of a crime pattern involving six ruse burglaries targeting elderly victims on the North Side last month.

Area North Detectives say the suspected offenders are working as a pair. One will approach and elderly victim’s resident and uses a ruse -- construction work, damage to their garage, an electrical problem -- to distract the victim.

Victims will be tricked into exiting their residence, or taken into another part of the house, such as the basement, while the other offender enters the home to steal property. In one case, the offender identified himself as a City of Chicago employee.
