Lou Malnati's Named One of America's Best Pizzas
Just 33 pizzas were selected to represent the nation's best, and the restaurant with a location in Wicker Park made the cut.
When it comes to pizza in America, the editors at the lifestyle publication Thrillist think they’ve come up with “the 33 best in the whole damn country,” including Chicago’s Lou Malnati’s.
The local pizza restaurant has multiple locations around the city and suburbs, including in the heart of Wicker Park at 1520 N. Damen Ave. Other nearby locations in Chicago include Lincoln Park and River North.
And according to Thrillist, Lou’s is serving up some of the best deep-dish pizza in the nation.
“Deep-dish has a tendency to ignite strong feelings everywhere,” writer Matt Lynch wrote. “New Yorkers will steadfastly insist it "isn't pizza", meanwhile my brother will threaten to disown me for picking Lou's over Giordano's.
"I like to think a tomato-topped slice with just the right amount (in this case, the right amount is a lot) of cheese and a whole damn layer of sausage can heal all disputes," he continued. "Oh, also it's on 'buttercrust.' Just whisper it to yourself. Buttercrust.”
Other Chicago restaurants to make the list were Vito and Nick’s on the South Side, and Coalfire in West Town.
